Market News In 2 Minutes @ 2nd April 2014

Market News in 2 minutes
April's Fool Day has just over, so, let's get back to business, seriously! ;-)

As stock investors (even though a small one), it is important to keep abreast with the latest financial and market news. Since I am in it, I thought it might be worthwhile to share it out with my readers too.

Hence, I started this "Market News In 2 Minutes" series.

Following are the "Market News In 2 Minutes" for today :

1. Noble Group (N21) - Cofco (Hong Kong), a unit of Cofco Corp, joined by Hopu Investment Management Co., a private-equity fund, will buy 51% of its unit, Noble Agri International Limited (NAL) for US$1.6 billion (source : The Edge)

2. Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp. (O39) - Offered HK$38.4 billion ($6.2 billion) to buy Wing Hang Bank in the biggest takeover of a Hong Kong lender since 2001 to gain a foothold in the expanding Chinese financial hub. (source : The Edge)

3. Swissco Holdings (5FD) - Has agreed to buy Scott and English Energy for $285 million. The purchase price will be satisfied by the issuance of 452.38 million consolidated shares at the price of 63 cents each after Swissco undertakes a 2-into-1 share consolidation. (source : The Edge)

4. CapitaLand (C31) - Has acquired the remaining 40-percent stake in Ascott International Management Japan Co (AIM Japan) for 20 million yen (about .3 million). With the purchase, AIM Japan will become a fully-owned subsidiary of CapitaLand. AIM Japan manages serviced residences in Japan. (source : Shares Investment)
5. Pacific Radiance (T8V) - Has secured a US$100 million contract for the first of its 14 new builds scheduled for delivery in FY14.
