Market News in 2 minutes
Tomorrow (13th May 2014) is Vesak Day and wish all have a great Holiday ahead of you!

As stock investors (even though a small one), it is important to keep abreast with the latest financial and market news. Since I am in it, I thought it might be worthwhile to share it out with my readers too.

Hence, I started this "Market News In 2 Minutes" series.
Following are the "Market News In 2 Minutes" for today :
1. Frasers Centrepoint Ltd (TQ5) - Bought the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth hotel in Australia for A$202.7 million ($237.2 million). 2. FJ Benjamin (F10) - The fashion retailer said on Friday it plans to close underperforming stores in Singapore after it reported a net loss of $5 million for its fiscal third quarter ended March, reversing from a net profit of $332,000 in the same period last year. (source : The Edge)

3. Advanced Integrated Manufacturing Corp (A54) - its subsidiary, Advanced Manufacturing Corporation (Penang), has been awarded a knitting programme project from Honeywell International, worth approximately US$2.5 million per annum. (source: Shares Investment)

  1. Hi, I'm a newbie in investing. I'll like to know your take on Mapletree Industrial Trust & Greater china commercial trust..? Should I sell it if I've made around 9% profit (industrial trust) or hold as there is still potential?

    1. Hi Wai Lin, Thanks for dropping by and comment. To be frank, I have very little knowledge about REITs and have zero understanding of two REITs that you've mentioned. Personally, I am looking at medium-to-longer term investment (not as long as Warren Buffett though ;-)).

As a rules of thumb, if your investment is fundamentally sounds and there is no other better investment opportunities, hold longer while collecting dividends might be a better choice! ;-)

  2. Hi Richard, thank you for your reply.. :) I guess I've to go with my gut feel then.

    1. Hi Wai Lin,

Yes! At times, it (gut feeling) is more powerful than many hours of analysis ;-)

All the best in your venture and hope to catch up more with you in the future and have a great Vesak Day!
