What Do Retail Investor and Author Has In Common?

author vs retail investor
Being a small retail investor and hobbyist blogger (not yet an author) myself, it's kind of dawn on me that there are one striking commonality between retail investor and author.

Want to make a wild guess yourself? ;-)

Minimally, I can relate these two roles on two aspects :

1. Both Author and Retail Investor are on our own:
For author : they create the plot/storyline by themselves (with the helps of some personal experience or other people's works)
For retail investor : they create their portfolio by themselves (with the helps of some "insider" news or other people's analysis)

2. Both Author and Retail Investor are uncertain about their work:
For author : Regardless of how good they think their work (book) is, there is no guarantee that it will sell!
For retail investor :Regardless of how good they think their work (selection of stocks) is, there is no guarantee that it will profit (not in the short term at least)!

Effectively, regardless of what we are venturing into, we are charting our own path, ultimately, even thought it might not be a success/profitable one, the knowledge and experience that we gained is PRICELESS! (along the line of MasterCard's Video Ad tagline)

What do you think?

Cheers!
