Should I Sell My Maiden Stock (Straco Corp) Now?

Straco Corporation
Yesterday (4th Jul 2014), my maiden stock (Straco Corporation - S85) shoot to the 52-weeks high at $0.765 (up a whooping $0.06 which is about 8.51%).

The question for me to ponder now is whether it is time to sell the stock for the profit NOW? As this is my maiden stock and hence I have invested only 2 lots (hahaha, I know I know, this kind of size is really peanut to some of you folks out there...;-) but it is still fun to ponder over such decision, regardless of the amount). Of course, I am aware that this is a decision for me to make but still like to bounce it out to the peer investors vested in this stock on your view.

I bought it three months ago at the price of $0.58, so, if include the small dividend check (my maiden dividend check too) that I've received, the yield is about 30% (after taken into consideration of the commission/fee).

The reason why I am considering selling the stock is because it has surpassed my targeted selling price and it seems to hit the Target Prices (Intrinsic Values) shared among the institutions powerhouse. However, I am curious about the cause of the sudden surge in stock price yesterday,  as I might have missed something... along the line of acquisition? ;-)

Anyway, I still have 2 days to ponder over this and will make a decision on the coming Monday.

Are you vested on Straco Corparation and will you be releasing all or some of your stocks that you are holding now and what is your rationale?

Cheers!

  2. Dear Richard, the key here is to do it right consistently, if it helps to think clearly, you can disregard the 2 lots and think in terms of percentage of your portfolio, you can even magnify the situation and think of it as 200 lots, will you do it differently? In unsure situation it is always better to take profit or partial profit, as a bird in the hand is worth more than two birds in the bush. I would hold on to Straco as there is no deterioration in company fundamentals, however no one can predict when the next bear market will start.

    4. im saying that because there are a lot of things the wise ones told me but i just cannot get it because my brain is not wired to received that. i filtered out a lot of good intentions in the past, when folks say look at this metrics, that metrics, i just ignore them. focus on this aspect of investing, i ignore them. that was wrong. i just have not understand anything at all even with the profits i made.

  3. Ask the old hands.

Most of the old hands learned their investing lessons from their big losses and became much wiser on their road to investment success. Huge pain will trigger real soul-searching!

In investing, your account size really matters!

Spent sometime to analyse your finance on how to build up your account size.

In investing, small or big is not just different; but it is world of difference in term of Method, Mind and Money Management.
