If you are new to the share price of Berkshire Hathaway, do take note that there is no typo in the blog title. The Berkshire A Share was last traded at US$201,227 on last Friday (which is more than SGD250,000).
In fact, I think it might not be a surprise to many as this most expensive share in the world is from the Value Investing guru, Warren Buffett. The share price doubled in just short 8 years (it crosses the US$100,000 barrier in 2006). To go even earlier, the share price crosses US$100 in May 1977 (37 years ago). The key is, the company has returned 22.6 per cent per year compounded since then.
Not sure how many Singaporean managed to get a hand to this gem but for those who did, I am sure they are smiling even in their sleep ;-)
Cheers!
How many retail investors can hold a stock for 37 years?
ReplyDelete10 yrs already difficult!
CW8888 You are very right! Lol
DeleteJust too many writers quoting theory as examples on how we can do it. Go to any seminar previews. You will know it.
ReplyDeleteCW8888 : Yup! It is always easier said than done. Also, there is always huge gap between theory and practice! ;-)
