Market News In 2 Minutes @ 3rd February 2015

As stock investors (even though a small one), it is important to keep abreast with the latest financial and market news. Since I am in it, I thought it might be worthwhile to share it out with my readers too.

Hence, I started this "Market News In 2 Minutes" series.

Following are the "Market News In 2 Minutes" for today :

1. BBR Holdings (KJ5) - Has won the bid for a land parcel at Yishun Avenue 4 through joint tenderers and will jointly develop the site in a 50:30:18:2 joint venture (JV) with Santarli Venture, MUSE Capital, and AHPL (Investments) respectively. The 99-year leasehold site was awarded by the Housing & Development Board for $185.1 million and is for a proposed mixed commercial and residential development. (Source : Shares Investment)

2. OKP Holdings (5CF) - Its wholly-owned subsidiary, Or Kim Peow Contractors has been awarded two contracts worth a total $143.8 million by the Land Transport Authority, for the construction of sheltered linkways. The latest wins boost the group’s gross order book to $296.8 million, extending to 2019. (Source : Shares Investment)

3. Sakae Holdings (5DO) - Is exploring the possibility of establishing an asset management business and starting a US$250 million “opportunistic fund” to invest in both public and private opportunities, which the group has identified as having deep value because of growth prospects, market inefficiencies or otherwise.  (Source : Shares Investment)

4. Sino Construction (F3V) - Its wholly-owned unit, Magnum Energy has entered into a 70:30 JV with Primeforth Special Situation Fund, to establish and operate Magnum Modular Power Generation. The JV firm, which will have an issued and paid-up share capital of $1 million, will undertake the business of generation and sales of electricity from renewable energy sources, namely biofuel. The group sees the deal as an extension to its strategy in the energy resources sector and is optimistic about the prospects of the renewable energy business.  (Source : Shares Investment)
